Therapeutic Riding Fitness Program Winter Session (Indoors) Therapeutic Recreation Center 19 Hazel Terrace Woodbridge, CT 06525
This six week session is specially designed to work on common issues found during therapeutic riding: Rhythm, stamina, core strength, and flexibility. Children will enjoy an exciting hour of musical gross motor games to encourage stamina and promote rhythms used in walk, trot, and canter on a horse. Yoga stretches and stability balls will be incorporated to develop flexibility and core strength. Stories and puzzles will be used for general horsemanship skills and overall equine knowledge. January 24 - March 7. Six week session. $180.
Spring Therapeutic Riding Schedule: Miles Hill Farm, Guilford Saturday: April 11 - June 27, 2015. $660 ($60/lesson) divided into two equal payments due April 11 and May 16. 10:00-11:00 or 11:00-12:00pm. The session will culminate in a Spring Show on June 27. All group lessons are one hour in length and limited to four participants. Private lessons (30 minutes, $60/lesson, $660 for the semester) are scheduled by appointment throughout the week. PEASE NOTE! Lessons are conducted rain or shine! If we are unable to ride due to weather, a horsemanship clinic will be conducted in the barn. There are no make-up opportunities for missed lessons unless AaTs needs to cancel class due to unforeseen circumstances.
EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) Model is available by appointment with certified Equine Specialist and licensed Mental Health Professional.
Attendance Policy: Students are expected to arrive on time for each lesson. New students enter under a trial enrollment period of 1-4 classes. AaTs maintains a wait list.; therefore participants are expected to maintain regular attendance. More than two unexcused absences in a 12 week term are cause for dismissal (one in a 6 week session). The same holds true for repeated late arrivals. Riders should know that a late arrival without notice - over 15 minutes- will result in the inability to ride. There are no make-up opportunities for missed lessons unless AaTs needs to cancel class due to unforeseen circumstances.
Attire: Riders should wear comfortable clothing that does not bind, or restrict, the rider's movement. Footwear is sturdy boots with a quarter inch heel. When weather is chilly, wear several layers that can be easily removed as riders will warm up during the session. We provide approved riding helmets.
